How to set velocity

See how to set the velocity/dielectric through a medium directly or calibrate via hyperbola fitting.

In this video we will see how we can set the velocity. If the velocity is known we can set it through the process tab in the right panel but setting directly the velocity value or by setting the dielectric constant. Let’s change the dielectric to 7 and hit apply. This updates automatically the velocity value but also the depths in the depth axis. If the velocity is not known we can set it via hyperbola fitting. First make sure that the B-scan window is the active window. The active window in GPR Insights is surrounded by a magenta box. Once a B-scan is the active window, the set velocity tool will appear in the toolbar. By clicking on this tool, a hyperbola with yellow color appears on the screen. Click and drag the apex of this hyperbola and move it to the location of the apex of a hyperbola in the GPR data. You can zoom in with the mouse wheel or go to the full screen mode in order to visualize the hyperbolas better. By clicking and dragging the other two circles of the hyperbola, we can adjust its shape. Notice on the top right that as we change the shape of the hyperbola, the velocity values and the dielectric are updated. Once adjusted click on the done button for the changes to be applied. This updates automatically the velocity and dielectric values but also the depth axis.
